The 1731 The English Reformation

1731 AD

John Wesley crossed paths with George Whitfield who would later become instrumental to the growth of the movement. Whitfield had graduated from Pembroke College and began preaching immediately after. He was soon hailed as an itinenrant preach and evangelist, being summoned to speak all over England. He spent a considerable amount of time in Bristol where he worked with John Wesley.

The Wesley brother and Whitfield spent time in America, specifically in the colony of Georgia. Unfortunately their evangelisitic efforts produced different results. While the Wesley’s were not as popular, Whitfield soon became a household name. Unfazed by the disappointing results in America, John Wesley returned to England. England was where his heart was and he made it the central focus of his ministry. Whitfield however frequented America until he died.
