Take a look at Machaerus from the sky in this Cinematic Aerial Film. Machaerus, a fortress perched on a hilltop east of the Dead Sea, was once a strategic stronghold of Herod the Great. This historical site is most famously known as the location where John the Baptist was imprisoned and ultimately executed. Overlooking the rugged landscape of modern-day Jordan, Machaerus offers a glimpse into the dramatic events surrounding the life and martyrdom of one of the Bible’s most pivotal prophets. John was the cousin of Jesus and played a crucial part in preparing the way for Jesus' ministry to flourish. He knew his role and was happy to decrease whilst Jesus' ministry increased. His life was cruelly taken from him, but his example of selfless service remains for us today. Bible verses are from the NKJV.
