Take a look at Thyatira from the sky In this Cinematic Aerial Film. Thyateira was the name of an ancient Greek city in Asia Minor, now the modern Turkish city of Akhisar in the Manisa Province. It is far west of Turkey, south of Istanbul and almost due east of Athens - about 50 miles (80 km) from the Aegean Sea. Thyatira would have been a particularly hard place to maintain ones Christian faith. It was a manufacturing city, known for its trade unions and the description of the church is arguable worse than Pergamos. After compromise comes apostasy and corruption, but in the midst of this bleak outlook there is still strong hope in this message!
